Director of the Department of Materials Science of the UniversitÃ Milano-Bicocca 2003-now. Chairman of the COST Action D41 â€śInorganic oxide surfaces and interfacesâ€ť (2006-2010). National coordinator of PRIN Projects 2003 e 2005.
Professor of Materials Chemistry and Solid State Chemistry for the Course in Materials Science (1998-2004). He has given courses in General and Inorganic Chemistry for the Courses in Materials Science, Physics, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture in the years 1987-2004. He has published a volume "Lezioni di chimica dello stato solido" (ISU, Milano). He has given classes and seminars for the PhD programs at the Universities of Barcelona and Munich.
He has been tutor of about 30 Laurea thesis in Physics and Materials Science and of 10 PhD thesis in Materials Science. Member of PhD committees at the Universities of Leiden, Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, Geneve, Lille, Losanne, Tempere, GÃ¶teborg, Tarragona, Lyon, etc.
Theoretical and structural aspects of inorganic solid state chemistry and organometallic chemistry; electronic structure of metal clusters in gas-phase and supported on surfaces; organometallic clusters; theory of chemisorption, surface chemistry and theory of elementary steps in catalysis; structure and properties of inorganic materials and oxides; interpretation of optical, vibrational, photoemission, and magnetic resonance spectra in solids, surfaces and interfaces.
