Angiolina Comotti is a graduate in Chemistry at the University of Milan (1991) on molecular modeling. She attended the Specialization School in Materials Science and Technology discussing a thesis on the Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance of composite materials. In 1995 she held a University Ministry Fellowship for one year at the ETH in Zurich in the group of prof. U. W.Suter studying diffusive processes by molecular dynamics. In 1998 she got her PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. P. Sozzani and Prof. M. Catti in Milan. Her research was devoted to the preparation and structural characterization of phosphazenic-based nanostructured materials. She held Fellowships by INSTM and Federchimica in 1998/1999 and a Research Fellowship at the Department of Materials Science in the year 2000. In 2001 she was appointed as an Assistant Professor (Researcher) in Physical Chemistry at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She collaborated with the University of Cambridge and University of California at Berkeley and visited the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory ISIS to perform Neutron Diffraction Experiments.
She has published more than 60 papers and 100 communications to congresses. She has been awarded Premio "Oscar Masi per l'innovazione industriale" by the Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca Industriale AIRI in 1995 and Premio "SAPIO NMR 2000".
In the last 3 years she has taught Physical Chemistry and Structural Chemistry for the Materials Science Degree and for the Goldsmith Science and Technology Degree.
Her interests cover several fields of the Physical Chemistry of Solids, in particular the application of advanced techniques as neutron and X-ray diffraction and solid state nuclear magnetic resonance to the study of lithium-based ionic conductors, supports for catalysis and meso-and nanoporous materials. Her research activity has focused on the creation of extended organic-inorganic interfaces and the determination of the interactions with particular emphasis on weak intermolecular interactions. Her studies are implemented by other physical chemical techniques as calorimetry and absorption measurements. Her main interests are diffusional phenomena (single-file diffusion of gases in crystalline solids), structural properties of molecular and ionic crystals obtained by non conventional techniques and disordered phases. The discovery of a new molecular zeolite has been remarked by the journal "Chemical and Engineering News" and some of recent results have been highlighted on the cover of the Journal Physical Chemistry and Angewandte Chemie.

Ha pubblicato piÃ¹ di 60 articoli su riviste internazionali, la maggior parte ad alto indice di impatto. Ha tenuto 23 conferenze a convegni internazionali e nazionali, ha partecipato a numerosi convegni e scuole e ha presentato piÃ¹ di 80 comunicazioni a convegni. E' stata premiata dall'Associazione italiana per la ricerca industriale, Premio "Oscar Masi per l'innovazione industriale" 1995 e ha ricevuto il "Premio Sapio NMR 2000". Ha tenuto lezioni di esercitazioni per Chimica al Politecnico di Milano, lezioni didattiche presso le Scuole di specializzazione in Sintesi Chimica presso l'UniversitÃ di Milano, Scienza dei Polimeri presso il Politecnico di Milano, e Scienza dei Materiali dell'UniversitÃ di Milano Bicocca.
